The Annual Walter E. Brandon Sickle Cell Walkathon is a major fundraiser sponsored by the Sickle Cell Disease Association of America, Philadelphia/ Delaware Valley Chapter (SCDAA/PDVC) and AFSCME District Council 33 held the last Saturday of September. The walkathon activities include a 5K walkathon, ringing of the bell ceremony remembering those who have passed away; wellness pavilion; health screenings; community information; music and refreshments.

During September which is recognized as Sickle Cell Awareness Month the Sickle Cell Disease Association of America, Philadelphia/Delaware Valley Chapter sponsors various events to raise awareness about sickle cell disease, sickle cell trait and the importance of testing.
Memorial Course Markers

Consider purchasing a Memorial Course Marker in honor of a family member or friend living with sickle cell disease or in memory of someone who passed away from complications of sickle cell disease. All markers will be placed at the kick-off site for this year’s sickle cell walkathon.
Create your specialized written message that you would like to place on the course marker. The memorial course markers can be purchased for $50.00 and photographs can be added at no additional cost. For more information call 215-471-8686.
